Sesbania Grandiflora is commonly known as Agathi, Katurai, Vegetable hummingbird,etc. The flower is used as vegetable and pakoda. The flowers are very delicious to eat. The flower and leaves are commonly eaten in southeast Asia. It is a fast growing tree. The leaves are regular and rounded and the fruits look like flat, green long beans. The seeds are small enough and brown in colour. The tree thrives under full exposure to sunshine and is extremely frost sensitive.
Germination Procedure:
- Soak the seeds in water for atleast 24 hours.
- Then place the seeds on bed made of soil.
- Sprinkle water frequently to keep the bed moist.
- Keep the pot on semi-shade area.
- It usually takes 7 to 10 days to germinate.
