Diospyros Malabarica is commonly known as Bangladeshi Gab, Malabar ebony, black and white ebony or pale moon ebony etc. It is a long lived tree generally found in lowland rain forests or river side. Both the bark of the tree and the unripe fruit have medicinal values in Ayurveda. Unripe fruit and leaves were traditionally used to dye cloth black. The wood of the plant is used in guiter manufacturing for its distinctive patterns.
Germination Procedure:
- Soak the seeds in water for atleast 24 hours.
- Place the seeds on bed made of sand and cover it with a thin layer of sand.
- Sprinkle water over it and keep the bed or pot on semi-shade area.
- Germination may start within 30–60 days.
