Caesalpinia is known in various names such as — chota Gulmohar, Peacock flower, red bird of paradise, Mexican bird of paradise, dwarf poinciana, bird of Barbados etc. It is notable for its orange red coloured flower all over the tree in summer. The royal poinciana requires a tropical or near tropical climate, but can tolarate drought and salty conditions. The plant is most commonly propagated by seeds. In addition to its ornamental value, it is most famous among avenue plants.
Germination Procedure:
- Soak the seeds in plain water for atleast 24 hours.
- Place the seeds on moist soil and keep it in a semi-shade area.
