Fishtail palm is known as Clustering palm. It has clustered stems up to 10 meters tall. Its flowers are purple and fruits are dark purple red. Careful handling is needed when seeds are extracted as it is saturated with raphides that cause irritation when contact with skin. The plant has triangle shape leaves that looks awesome as a house plant.
Seeds are blakish purple in colour. Seeds are dried in shade and not in direct sunlight. Seeds are free from pest and fungus.
Germination Procedure:
- Soak the seeds in water for atleast 36 hours.
- Then place the seeds on bed, made of either soil or sand. Sand is the best medium.
- Cover the seeds with same medium.
- Water on it frequently to get it moist.
- Usually it takes 25 to 35 days to germinate.
